The days before Christmas are always so busy. They're filled with holiday parties, baking, shopping, and wrapping. The season seems like it's here and over in the blink of an eye. It feels like the tinsel and the trees pop up, and the next time you turn around, they're being taken down. I really wish that there was a way to freeze frame time and extend the Christmas spirit into the new year... If only Christmas cards could stay on the mantle for just a little bit longerMake a super simple christmas card display and bring fresh rosemary into the mix! [AD]One of my favorite ways to celebrate the season is sending Christmas cards. It means so much to me to receive updates from our friends and family in greeting card fashion. When sending my own greeting cards, I like to pour a hot chocolate, set my radio to some classic Christmas tunes, and spread my holiday cheer through words of encouragement. Christmas cards are like a snapshot of the present and I love keeping them up for a good time after Christmas. They just make me happy. However, my husband is pretty adamant about taking down the Christmas decorations the week after Christmas. This year I devised a plan that will allow our greeting cards to be up at Christmas, and even into the new year! We're pretty simplistic when it comes to mantle decorating. We keep it consistent throughout the year, but at Christmas we add a little nutcracker, Christmas greeting cards, and stockings. Whether you deck your mantle with boughs of holly, or you take a more simplistic route, this is a great way to keep your Christmas cards displayed into January! The best part is that you can add this to virtually any mantel that's already decorated for Christmas. And when Christmas is over, with a few simple tweaks it will be "goodbye, Christmas" and "Hello, New Year".

When I was shopping for groceries at Walmart the other day, I picked up everything I needed to festively display the cards that friends and family have sent. I had to pull myself away from the Hallmark ornaments. They have some seriously adorable ones. And, because I'm behind this year, I was able to snag some gorgeous Hallmark greeting cards to send out, myself... in a display right at the check out line! Talk about convenience.

Here's what you'll need for the Christmas card mantle hangers:

Make a super simple christmas card display and bring fresh rosemary into the mix! [AD]

  • twine
  • glue gun
  • floral wire
  • sprigs of rosemary
  • clothes pins
  • a fork (and it's not to eat the rosemary!)
  • and Hallmark Greeting cards, of course!

Here's how you'll make the christmas card mantle hangers:

1. String twine across the mantle and secure it with tape. Run it however you like. You can even run it in conjunction with a garland if you like! 2. Make twine bows. Be sure to look closely at the visuals. These instructions will make a lot more sense. Tie the perfect bows every time with this super easy fork trick! Who ever knew you could use a fork to tie a bow?

  1. First, take a fork and wrap twine around the tines. Make sure the twine on the bottom of the fork is longer than the one on the top.
  2. Now, cross over the top twine with the bottom twine. Slip the end of the twine through the fork.
  3. With that same end, go under the twine up back up through the same tine.
  4. Pull tightly and tie.
  5. Slide a perfect twine bow off of the fork.

Enjoy. When Christmas is over, take down all the blatant Christmas decorations, but leave up the holiday cards, clips, and twine to enjoy longer! Make a super simple christmas card display and bring fresh rosemary into the mix! [AD]That's seriously it! It took NO time at all, my house smells like fresh rosemary, and I can enjoy all the holiday spirit that comes from well wishes of friends and family. I'm thoroughly enjoying the greeting cards for Christmas, but I'm excited to swap the Christmas greeting cards for others as the seasons change. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have Christmas cards to write... I told you I was a little behind. :) What's your favorite way to display greeting cards?
