Makeup Tips for Mature Women

Recently it started occurring to me that I won't always wear the same style of makeup. In the past five years I've seen my style of makeup mature and I know that my taste is only going to get more selective as I get older. As we age our skin changes. It loses elasticity and we can even develop wrinkles. Shimmery eye looks and on-fleek highlights are no longer flattering. If you're in this position, no need to throw in the towel! Altering your makeup regimen becomes necessary as we age, but a beautiful makeup look is absolutely possible. In fact, with some simple tips it's a guarantee.

Makeup Tips for Mature Women

Figuring out how to wear makeup as a mature woman can be scary, but it doesn't have to be. These are simple makeup tips that will help women of any age achieve a youthful, bright makeup look. Makeup like this is like a facelift without the knife! Before I begin, I just want to give an extra special shout out to my mom. I greatly appreciate the fact that she allowed me to do this and that she let me put her makeover on the internet. My mom is the very best - I love you mom!

Eye Makeup for Mature Women

First thing's first - matte shadow is your friend. Our eyelids are thin by nature and as we age they become more wrinkle-prone. Shimmery shadows are no longer the way to go because they tend to highlight the fact that there are wrinkles there. Matte shadows are the best bet. Personally, I like matte shadows that are neutral in tone. I think they're the most flattering on mature eyelids. But if you're a lover of color - get down with your bad self - just make sure those colors are matte. Cat eye liner may be a thing of the past, too. Instead, I suggest opting for a smokey look by using dark matte shadows to line the lashes. You can even go more dramatic by smudging this shadow a bit for a fun. Using shadows as liner is more forgiving to wrinkles. Liquid liners can get caught in the folds and make your liner appear messy and unkempt. Brows are an important part of any woman's makeup regimen. As women get older, our hair tends to become coarser and harder to manage... and so do your brows! It's important to get your brows in shape. Something as simple as that can change your entire look. Happy brows make happy women, and well maintained eyebrows help add a lift to your face! No need to go under the knife for that kind of face lift. ;)

Face Makeup for Mature Women

When it comes to mature skin, moisture is key. Super matte foundations can settle into fine lines and make your skin appear more cakey. In place of a super full coverage matte foundation, I suggest a moisturizing BB or CC cream. Paired with a color correcting and brightening concealer it's possible to get away with less coverage and still get a flawless face. Lighter creams such as BB and CC creams also gives much needed moisture to the face which can help the skin appear dewy and more youthful - perfect for aging skin! A cream blush goes a long way. Dab a few dollops of a matte natural color blush on the apples of your cheeks and blend with a duo fiber brush by tapping the product into your skin. For added luminosity, a cream highlighter may be dabbed onto the cheek bones and in the arches of the brows. The main thing to keep in mind is to stay away from glitter!

Lipstick for Mature Women

When it comes to lipstick as a mature woman, lipliner is key! Lipsticks tend to feather more as we age, so lock in that lip color with a liner. As for color, I think anything goes! Pick a color that makes you happy and let that be the area in your makeup routine where you have full creative prowess. Figuring out how to wear makeup as a mature woman can be scary, but it doesn't have to be. These are simple makeup tips that will help women of any age achieve a youthful, bright makeup look. Makeup like this is like a facelift without the knife!

It is completely possible to love makeup as a mature woman. Utilizing the right products and techniques can shave years from your face in the blink of an eye. I am always amazed by the power of makeup, and makeup for mature women is no different!
