Nothing to Wear - Capsule Wardrobe

I am so tired of looking at the clothes hanging up in my closet and saying, "I have nothing to wear."It is absolutely appalling that I feel this way because I buy clothes fairly often, and that's not something to be proud of. I waste a lot of money on clothing that I think I'm going to wear, and then don't. My intentions is fine--wear trendy clothes, like I see on fancy Instagram accounts. I'd love to look flawlessly put together with all of the latest trends right at my fingertips. However, there's one major flaw. That's just not me. I see these girls with perfectly styled wardrobes (every. day.) and I'm envious. I attempt to mimic what I like, but I end up hating the pieces I buy for these purposes because they don't flatter me, or they are just not practical for daily wear (i.e. this amazing tulle skirt that I've worn all of once).I want a wardrobe I can be proud of. One that flatters me. One that is versatile. I want to stand in my closet and almost blindly choose any combinations of clothing and still feel great. For these reasons, I've decided to try a capsule wardrobe.capsule wardrobeBefore, I always thought that a capsule wardrobe was just a great way to buy new clothes that were in style and wear them until you bought more clothes. I listened to these girls telling me that "downsizing" was such a freeing thing, and honestly, it just didn't click with me. I like things. How can downsizing be attractive to me? Then, I stumble upon the Project 333 website. I'm sure I am so late to the game that this isn't even funny, but after I read many articles there, I was convinced. I think the quote that really sold the entire thing for me was this: "The other day, I went to grab a top for slopping around the house in… Stared in confusion at my options for a little while, before I realised that now I only have my favourite tops left (ie ones I would be happy to go out and be seen in), so I ended up wearing a favourite top just for sitting on the balcony and reading a book. It felt great."I've thought long and hard about my capsule wardrobe, and I think I finally have it nailed down. Would you be interested in the details? If not, I won't bore you with them.

I made it a goal to not buy anything new for the next 3 months. No accessories, no clothing. I'm working with what I have for 3 months. I figure that I can probably stand on my head for 3 months if I have to. This way, I can find the holes in my wardrobe and then fill them once I know what I really need and not just want I *think* I want.

Have you ever done a capsule wardrobe? What has been your experience? Ever feel like you "have nothing to wear"?
