The Homemade Skirt
I started sewing this year. I've actually made quite a few projects--two skirts, even! And then, after the high of the stitch wore off, the skirts sat in the closet... for months. I was trying to figure out what to wear for this week's Creative Closet and I was just scratching my head. The prompt is "Singing the Blues". I have a lot of blue, but did I really want to just throw on a blue tee shirt? I was digging through my closet and hidden behind my current capsule wardrobe, there they hung--the two skirts I made months ago--unworn. I grabbed the blue polka dot homemade skirt, slipped it on and my eyes turned to hearts. This posts serves a double purpose because many of you asked to see some of my sewing projects! Yay! Don't you love killing two birds with one stone? Ironically, this entire outfit was put together with items that I never wear. I hardly ever wear a plain white tee. I was experimenting with the turban, and I *think* I finally figured out how to make it work on my head. The pearls are faux pearls that I wore before I had real ones. I even wore some makeup that I don't typically wear. I think this hodgepodge of "misfits" came together for a really awesome (and blue) ensemble.
