Trunk Club for Women | Best or Bust?
Choosing pieces in a wardrobe is like choosing your attitude. It's personal. Sometimes you can't explain it. I can be hard. It's no surprise that these are the reasons why women typically don't love to be gifted pieces of clothing.

After a few failed Stitch Fix boxes, I decided it was time to move on... so I took the plunge and I tried Trunk Club for women.
I'm a big fan of It's Me Anna E on Youtube. That's how I found out Trunk Club had started a box for women. After watching a couple of her review videos, I downloaded the app, and requested a box. The stylist I was assigned was Maren, and to my surprise, she messaged me pretty much right away. She gave me the option of a phone call or email for questions she had about my style, what I wanted, what I needed, my fit, etc. I opted for the email because I often forget things when I'm speaking real-time.
When she sent me a preview of what she included in the trunk, I was given the option to nex any items I wanted - and give feedback - so I did that and I nexed about 10 items. I gave thoughtful feedback on each item, and a couple of days later, she sent me a revised copy and the shipping information of my trunk. I think I should mention here that you get each trunk club shipment for NO FEE. No styling fee. That's right. You only pay for what you keep and the prices reflect sales prices when there's a sale. I definitely didn't feel taken advantage of in that way like I did with Stitch Fix. The products were priced similarly to Nordstrom pricing. The quality was wonderful overall. The pricing was kind of all over the board... I received items ranging from $38 to $218. But for the quality, I felt like most items were fairly priced. Let's get into what was in my first Trunk Club for Women shipment!
Trunk Club for Women
'Felicia' Flat | Sam Edelman $99.95I really liked these, but I didn't need them. I don't wear a lot of suede shoes outside of winter, and although I kind of need a good pair of black flats, I wouldn't wear these enough due to the fabric. They were a good price, though, and I love the brand! Long Sleeve Chambray Shirt | Halogen $68This was the first item I tried on and when I slipped it on, I wanted to melt into it. When I first saw it in the trunk I was kind of "meh" about it. It was just another chambray shirt. Wrong. This is THE chambray shirt. Apart from it feeling great, I knew I would get so much wear out of this shirt because of the versatility. KEPT!'Clarette' Suede Wedge Sandal | Halogen$99.95These were just about the cutest things ever. I really wanted to keep them, but I didn't need them. Maybe I can pick them up on clearance one of these days, although the original price isn't bad! Colorblock Zip Tank | Trouve $68I was intrigued by this. I liked that I could make the V as deep or shallow as I wanted. That was a cool concept. In the end, I just didn't love the feel of the shirt, the fit of the shirt, or the color of the shirt. It went back. Short Sleeve Popover Top | Hinge $58Oh man. I liked the print of this - the fit? Abysmal. I'm a short girl, and have never had an issue with a shirt being too short, but this one was too short. It was super boxy, too which made it very unflattering with my shape. Sleeveless V-Neck Top | Halogen $68I guess I really like the fabric that Halogen uses because this was another top I wanted to melt into. It's also a super basic piece, and I knew that I'd get a lot of wear out of it. I popped my favorite cardigan over the top and I really loved how it looked and felt. You know the feeling when you can just feel the richness of an item? THAT. That is what I felt with this tank top on... which is why I paid $68 for it. KEPT. Braided Leather Belt | Hinge$38Lovely basic black belt... but just that. A basic black leather belt. I already have one. I didn't need this one. Not a bad price, though. Floppy Wool Felt Hat | Hinge$38I really did love this hat, but I have one almost identical to it in brown. I do want a cool panama hat or a fedora, but I didn't need another floppy hat - even as cute as it was. Sleeveless Surplice Front Top | Bobeau$48Ouch. Not flattering at all. So the front of this top is like two triangles crossing. Unfortunately, this really emphasized my large chest and broad shoulders. 'Naya' V-Neck Silk Shell | JoieHoly cow. While the fabric was nice, this shirt was way too expensive for what it was and the style was exactly like the Bobeau top, so it was unflattering on me. Plus, this one had elastic around the bottom hem is the worst look for me. 'Alex' Drop Earrings | Kendra Scott$55If I didn't already have some turquoise Kendra Scott earrings, I may have pounced.Crepe Shift Dress | Felicity & CocoLove the color, love the shape. Love all around. Unfortunately, I didn't get any useable photos of me in the dress - but don't worry - those are to come! 'The Dropout' Slim Boyfriend Crop Jeans Graffiti Girl | MOTHER$196The denim felt really nice, but the fit just wasn't right. I have a problem with jeans fitting in the waist, but getting really really baggy around the thigh and calf. These were boyfriend which only exacerbated that problem.'Slim Signature' Sleeveless Shirtdress | Equipment$198I really debated whether or not to keep this one. I tried it on 3 or 4 different times. It gaped a little, but I thought I could fix that with a quick stitch (or maybe another button?). In the end, I double checked the price and threw it in back in the box. Not worth the $198. If it would have fit me perfectly, I may have had an internal dilemma.Tiered Lace Trim Top | Pleione$58No. Just, no. This thing was big enough to fit 2 of me into it.'Windowpane Loafer' Ponte Capris | Hue$48I was so excited when Maren sent me the sneak preview and these were included... but I thought they were real pants, not leggings.'Clarissa' Colored Stretch Ankle Jeans | NYDJThese were just too big. Too big in the waist, too long, too baggy around the calves.
General Thoughts About Trunk Club for Women
Service
I was really taken by surprise at the service. My stylist was prompt, super nice, and really cared about what I told her. Ask for Maren when you sign up for Trunk Club for women.
Pricing
I really appreciated that there wasn't a styling fee. The clothes are more expensive, but personally, I'm willing to pay more for good quality - and these are great quality. On top of all of that, it makes me feel like Trunk Club for women really has me in mind when they list sale prices for items. They could easily take the route that subscriptions like Stitch Fix have, and up charge, but as far as I can tell, they don't. The prices were the same as what I was able to find on Nordstrom.
Would I Try Trunk Club for Women Again?
Abso-freaking-lutely. Maren was a dream to work with and I feel like she knows my style after giving feedback and our email exchanges. I'm still on the hunt for the perfect pair of jeans, so I'll ask for a few pairs in my next trunk.Another thing I really love is that Trunk Club is not a subscription service. You can just request trunks any time you wish. You have 10 days to try on the items and then you just send back what you don't want! They even offer free UPS pick up so you don't even need to leave the house. Busy moms? Trunk Club's got your back. If you want to try Trunk Club for Women, I think it's worth a shot. After all, if you don't like anything - just send it back (free shipping both ways, too, btw) and you pay nothing.
